The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Division of Communications and Marketing recently captured two honors in the 2024 Collegiate Advertising Awards, a national competition celebrating excellence in higher education marketing and advertising.
UTC received Silver honors in the Total Advertising Campaigns and Social Media Marketing categories. The University’s Regional Brand Awareness Campaign competed in the group of institutions with 10,001-20,000 students. The centerpiece of this campaign was the billboard on Amnicola Highway next to Chattanooga State Community College.
The winning submission in the Social Media Marketing Campaign was the UTC “Mental Health” ad, which also competed among schools with 10,001–20,000 students. Click here to see the video.
The Collegiate Advertising Awards program is designed to showcase the nation’s most creative and effective educational marketing efforts. Entries are judged on criteria including creativity, layout and design, production quality, and overall effectiveness. UTC’s winning entries placed among the top 12% nationally in their respective categories.
“These awards are a testament to the incredible talent, collaboration and dedication of our entire communications and marketing staff,” Vice Chancellor for Communications and Marketing JAy Blackman said. “Their passion for telling UTC’s story and connecting with our community in meaningful ways shines through in everything they do. We are all very proud of the work they produce and the impact they make.”
While the entire Division of Communications and Marketing had a hand in both of these honors, specific staff members who worked directly on these projects included Sally Halloran (senior director of marketing), Meghan Phillips (art director), Mike Andrews (executive video producer), Amy Barker (graphic designer), Sam Blevins (videographer), Charlie Reed (script/copywriter) and Stephen Rumbaugh (former executive director of brand management and creative content).
