Andrew Sheehy
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Chancellor Lori Mann Bruce today announced the appointment of Andrew Sheehy as interim vice chancellor for advancement and interim executive director of the UC Foundation.
Sheehy, a seasoned higher-education advancement leader with more than three decades of experience, brings deep knowledge of the University of Tennessee System and a proven track record of fundraising success to the role. He will succeed Kim White, who will retire on Sept. 19 after leading UTC to record-breaking fundraising results.
A national search to identify a permanent successor will begin soon.
“Andrew Sheehy is a trusted and strategic advancement professional whose career has been defined by transformational fundraising and an ability to build strong, high-performing teams,” Chancellor Bruce said. “His expertise across the UT System and in higher education nationally will ensure UTC continues its strong momentum in philanthropy and alumni engagement.”
Sheehy currently serves as associate vice chancellor for strategic initiatives at UT Knoxville, where he provides executive oversight of prospect management, donor engagement and campaign planning in collaboration with the University of Tennessee Foundation.
“I am honored to serve UTC in this interim role and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Chancellor Bruce, the UC Foundation and my advancement colleagues,” Sheehy said. “UTC has extraordinary momentum, having had record-breaking years under Kim White, and I look forward to helping sustain that energy as we continue building a strong culture of philanthropy in support of students, faculty and the Chattanooga community.”
Sheehy has coordinated billion-dollar campaign strategies and secured principal and major gifts during his leadership roles at UT Knoxville, including doubling fundraising productivity in the university’s College of Arts and Sciences. During his tenure in the UT System, Sheehy has been instrumental in planning the “It Takes a Volunteer” campaign.
“With Andrew stepping into this interim role, we are confident UTC is well-positioned to sustain and build upon our recent fundraising achievements as we continue to advance the University’s mission,” Bruce said.
Sheehy earned an MBA from East Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and literature from Grinnell College in Iowa. A nationally recognized advancement leader, he has presented at CASE and other professional conferences and received the UT Foundation Board of Directors’ Award in 2020 for innovation and fundraising performance.
