Are you or someone you know considering applying to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga?
Applying to college can add up quickly, but UTC is offering prospective students a chance to save money during Free Application Week, taking place Sept. 15-20.
During Free App Week, the University will waive its standard $30 undergraduate application fee for all applicants who use the code FREEAPP26 in the UTC application portal at utc.edu/apply.
UTC’s Free App Week is part of Tennessee College Application and Exploration Month, a statewide initiative led by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission to encourage high school seniors to take the next step toward higher education. Throughout September, public and private colleges and universities across the state waive application fees, and many schools nationwide follow suit during the fall.
UTC freshman Cannon Schultz, who is majoring in political science with a minor in history, said he applied to the University for free as a senior at Soddy Daisy High School.
“Having the opportunity to apply for free made the daunting application process much easier and encouraged me to finally choose UTC as the school I wanted to pursue my education at,” Schultz said. “I love it here.”
Nationally, the average college application fee is about $45. By waiving the cost, UTC helps reduce barriers for students who may be applying to multiple schools. For many families, the savings can make a difference in the decision to apply.
Free App Week is open to all undergraduate applicants. The fee waiver is available only through the UTC application portal and does not apply to those using the Common Application platform.
