Join UTC Opera in their production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s beloved fairy-tale opera, The Magic Flute, April 8 and 9, 7:30 P.M., Roland Hayes Concert Hall, Fine Arts Center.
The Magic Flute, composed just months before Mozart’s death in 1791, is one of the composer’s most popular operas. The story follows the young prince Tamino’s search for love and truth, a mother’s love and her search for vengeance, and the endearing bird-catcher, Papageno, and his search for his perfect mate. Set in a mystical time and place, their stories intertwine in some of Mozart’s greatest music.
UTC’s production will be slightly condensed and is appropriate for all ages.
The production features sets by James Marvel and the UT Knoxville Opera Theatre, and costumes by Brenda Schwab of Chattanooga State. Stage direction is by UTC Opera Director, Mr. Perry Ward, musical direction is by Tim Hinck. UTC students participating the production include Connor Behrmann, Ben Brooks, Jeron Burney, Laura Childers, Sara Hrivnak, Glory Larm, Grace Partin, and Kayla Petrille. Rounding out the cast are UTC alumni, Laura Cofer and Kim Thompson, as well as members of the Chattanooga Boys Choir, Vic Oakes, director.
