You are cordially invited to a book signing with University of Tennessee at Chattanooga alumna Cherie Priest. Priest, who earned her M.A. in Rhetoric and Professional Writing from UTC in 2001, has authored twenty books and novellas, including the recent haunted house thriller The Family Plot, acclaimed gothic horror novel Maplecroft from Roc, and the award-winning Clockwork Century series from Tor.
The event will take place in the Southern Writers Room located on the 4th floor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Library on Tuesday, October 25 at 5:30 P.M. Light refreshments will be served at 5 P.M. This event is free and open to the public.
Check out our interview with Priest from 2014 in honor of her newly released book, The Family Plot (copies of her newest book and other titles will be available for purchase, cash or credit card, at the event):
What do Confederate spy Maria Boyd, Chickamauga Battlefield legend Green Eyes, an OCD vampire, and a former Navy Seal drag queen have in common? They are characters that come to life (or death) in alumna Cherie Priest’s novels.

The Family Plot is a haunted house story for the ages-atmospheric, scary, and strange, with a modern gothic sensibility to keep it fresh and interesting-from Cherie Priest, a modern master of supernatural fiction.
Want a sneak peak? Visit the Tor/Forge blog to read the first chapter!
Attendees are encouraged to wear a costume! Take Priest’s advice and get into the Halloween spirit with a steampunk costume inspired by her fictional world the Clockwork Century, where many of her novels take place:
- Steampunk Wardrobe Customizations for the Lazy, the Poor, or the Crafty
- How to Steam Up Your Old Goth Wardrobe
The Library is located at 600 Douglas Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37404. Visitors enjoy free parking in the East 5th Street Garage after 5 P.M.
