The Campus favorite, Beat Hunger, will be held only once this year, on Monday, November 21, at 7:30 P.M. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall, Fine Arts Center. As usual, admission is only a $2 check donation to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen or two non-perishable food items.
What we WON’T play: “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “Disco Inferno,” or “Burnin’ Love” (Elvis version).
What we WILL play: great percussion and drum music, involving the best of new and older works. What for what a great cause!
Chattanooga’s Street-Drumming Ensemble, FUNKABUCKETS, will again entertain in the Lobby of the FAC at about 7:00, before the show. This incredible group of local drummers is not to be missed! They do not perform indoors often, and they won’t be here again for a year!
Beat Hunger 2016 will feature the concert hall premier of a new drumming quintet by UTC alumnus Erik Gehrke, which was commissioned for the recent Glass Street Block Party and given it’s premiere in Sherman’s Reservation. This will be the first time the piece has been performed under roof, and behind closed doors! Other works include pieces by Blake Tyson, George Bizet, Neil DePonte, and others. And of course, there are always guests, and surprises!
Come be a part of this Chattanooga tradition, which marks the beginning of the Holiday giving season in our beautiful city.
