Alumni from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga can now show their school pride whenever they whip out their credit card.
The University of Tennessee Alumni Association (UTAA) has released MasterCards for alumni of UTC, the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, UT-Martin and the UT Health Science Center. Cards will have the logo of a specific school on them.
“Designed specifically for UT alumni, the credit cards show off your school pride while supporting your alma mater,” said Rickey McCurry, vice president for development and alumni affairs and president and CEO of the UT Foundation.
The program launches on Nov. 14. More than 63,000 alumni will receive a direct mail piece over the next few weeks, along with social media marketing and emails.
The cards have no annual fee and also offer:
- Unlimited 1 percent cash back;
- 9.99 annual percentage rate;
- 1.99 percent balance transfer rate for the first six billing cycles;
- No foreign transaction fee.
To issue the cards, UTAA entered a partnership with Card Assets, an Atlanta-based division of First Arkansas Bank & Trust, which is headquartered in Jacksonville, Ark.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to work with such a great university system,” said Jayson Swanson, president of Card Assets. “UT has an outstanding reputation for both academics and athletics and has many alumni and supporters who will want to carry and use customized UT credit cards. The credit cards will generate funds to help sponsor the many great programs which benefit UT alumni.”
