WUTC, FM 88.1, raised $120,727 in new pledged dollars to support its programming costs.
“We are overjoyed,” said Robin Higgins, head of the radio station’s membership services. “This amount matches what we raised last fall. Once again, our dedicated listeners have made the effort to keep WUTC financially strong. Even though the economy is just starting to improve, we have had another fabulous response from our audience.”
Besides the need for programming dollars, this membership drive was significant for the radio station.
“This was our 25th anniversary celebration,” Higgins said. “Our staff has been providing locally originated programming for 25 years from our studios on The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus.”
WUTC also announced plans to enhance its digital services.
“Next we are implementing the technology to make sure that WUTC can be heard on most any smart telephone technology. Over the next two years, WUTC will begin digitally broadcasting another two radio services. Soon there will be two more UTC digital streams. They will be able to be heard either as digital broadcasts or as streamed internet programming,” Higgins said.
