From the mud of Memphis and the Mississippi River to the shiny life of a professional rapper to being shot, Adolph Thornton Jr. has led an interesting life.
He’ll be performing Friday, April 13, in Maclellan Gym, part of Campus Activity Board week at UTC.
Yes, Dolph is short for Adolph, but he has added another layer to the name, using the shortening moniker as a nod to dolphins. Check out the chains he wears around his neck. Yep, there are dolphins.
His career started in 2008 with a mixtape that he recorded and released independently. He has now released 19 mixtapes in all but, since 2016, he also has released four full-length CDS. All are on his own record label, Paper Route Empire.
His first full-length release, 2016’s King of Memphis, hit No. 5 on the Billboard U.S. Rap chart and No. 9 on the U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
