Former Mocs football standout Terrell Owens returns to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Saturday, when UTC hosts the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for Owens on campus at McKenzie Arena. The event is free and open to the public.
Doors open at 1 p.m. and festivities begin at 3:17 p.m.—Owens is the 317th inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Owens was a wide receiver for the Mocs from 1992 to 1995 before being drafted in 1996 by the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. He spent 15 seasons in the NFL, where he was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and a five-time All-Pro pick. Owens is second only to San Francisco’s Jerry Rice in career receiving yards with 15,934, third in all-time in receiving touchdowns (153) behind Rice and the Minnesota Vikings’ Randy Moss and eighth all-time in receptions (1,078).
Over the course of his career, he played for the 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals.
