Two UTC academic leaders were on the program this week at the 2018 Women in Leadership Higher Education National Diversity Congress, held at Harvard University.
Valerie Rutledge, dean of the College of Health, Education and Professional Studies, and Elizabeth Crawford, director of the School of Professional Studies and a Learning and Leadership program advisor, were presenters along with 50 other senior executives and administrators from universities across the country.
Rutledge and Crawford partnered on their presentation, “Mentoring Women Toward Success,” highlighting the need for successful women to mentor others—and for women aspiring to succeed, they offered ideas for identifying, engaging with and learning from strong mentors.
Topics over the course of the two-day National Diversity Congress included leadership development for women in higher education; leading in executive and academic ranks and in fields where women traditionally have been underrepresented; and negotiating, collaborating and other leadership skills.
