After 22 years in the UTC School of Education, Karen Adsit is retiring.
Renee Murray, director of the School of Education, called Adsit “a tremendous asset.”
“It was a privilege to serve alongside such an excellent faculty member, colleague and leader,” Murray said. “Her knowledge and expertise will be sorely missed. We wish her the very best in her new endeavors.”
Along with teaching “Topics in Visual and Performing Arts” for the Honors College, Adsit has conducted research into such areas as course design, multimedia production, copyright and fair use laws, active learning strategies, among many others.
Valerie Rutledge, dean of the College of Health, Education and Professional Studies, said Adsit “has been a critical part of many different initiatives and academic areas.”
“Her willingness to take on new challenges, to address existing concerns and to create new courses/training have been a significant part of the success of various departments and groups,” Rutledge said. “Touching many different aspects of UTC, she will leave an imprint that is both appreciated and valued.”
