Themes of integration in public schools and universities, youth activism, white opposition to the Civil Rights Movement and Black Power are examined through the lens of the Chattanooga in “’We Demand an End to Racism!”: The Civil Rights Movement in Chattanooga,” an exhibition by UTC students that opens later this month.
The exhibition was pulled together in fall 2018 by students in “Modern Civil Rights Struggle,” a class taught by professor Susan Eckelmann Berghel. At the opening, the students will participate in a panel discussion to discuss their process for curating the exhibition and the themes they wanted to bring out.
