The Cress Gallery of Art and the UTC Department of Art present: The UTC Department of Art 2010 Senior Thesis Exhibitions. Group One’s exhibit will run through Friday, April 9. Group Two’s exhibit will run April 13 – April 23 with artists’ presentations Tuesday, April 13, 4:00 pm, Fine Arts Center room 356 followed by an 0pening reception Tuesday, April 13, 5:30p.m. – 7 p.m.
These annual exhibitions presented by the Cress feature work from the Department’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Studio majors completing coursework in graphic design, painting and drawing, and 3-D Studio. Department head Matt Greenwell describes the exhibitions as the culmination of each student’s effort and research over the course of the Department’s professional curriculum and a signal of the depth of command of materials and process and broad range of aesthetic of its graduating majors.
With 26 participants the exhibitions will be divided into two venues:
Exhibition One features Matt Adams, Jessie Bailey, Caroline Broad,
Claire Dunham, Megan Humble, Tara Jacek, Elizabeth Keltner, Sherry Leary, Jessica Raper, Hannah Silver, Lauren Smart, Heidi Vasterling, and Beth Wright.
Exhibition Two includes April Colkmire, Angela Covert, Eliza Daugherty, Nekita Harville, Meagan Huff, Kelsie Lendermon, Carlin McRae, Melinda Owens, Tiffany L. Pascal, Natalie Ann Roig, Krista Stickles, Daniel Wroe, and Casey Yoshida.
Students in each group will present short talks about their work prior to each opening reception from 4– 5:30 p.m., Room 356 Fine Arts Center adjacent to the Cress Gallery. The students will discuss their thought processes and motivations for their individual projects.
