Want to hear the stories of your Chattanooga neighbors? About their marriages? Their jobs? Their ups and downs?
In other words, their lives?
On Thursday, April 18, you’ve got your chance.
StoryCorps, the National Public Radio show that records 40-minute conversations between two people on any subject they choose, has been in Chattanooga for the past few weeks. The show’s bright’n’shiny Airstream trailer has been sitting at Chattanooga’s Miller Park, partnering with WUTC-FM 88.1, Chattanooga’s NPR station, to collect 125 interviews.
At a Listening Party on Thursday, snippets of some of the Chattanooga conversations will be played in Songbirds Guitar Museum, located next to the Chattanooga Choo Choo. Doors open at 5 p.m.; the event begins at 6 p.m. and runs until 7:30 p.m. There will be StoryCorps interactive displays and refreshments from a cash bar.
It’s free to attend, but you must register at wutc.org.
Some of the full conversations recorded in Chattanooga will be edited into four-minute segments and appear on WUTC during Morning Edition, which airs from 6-9 a.m. weekdays, and All Things Considered, which runs weekdays from 4-7 p.m. The station also will use the conversations to create special programming.
