The program that leads to a bachelor of science in interior architecture has been officially accredited.
According to the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), the approval last six years and begins in April 2019.
“Award of CIDA accreditation attests to the quality of your interior design program and benefits your program in many ways,” the organization said in its approval letter. “Parents, students, and employers of graduates can be assured that your program meets the rigor of peer review and develops the skills and knowledge required to practice interior design.”
The UTC interior design program operates under the Department of Interior Architecture and Design in the College of Health, Education and Professional Services.
“Attaining CIDA accreditation (Council for Interior Design Accreditation) represents the highest level of excellence in interior design education,” says Jessica Etheredge, undergraduate program director in the department. “Our program adheres to the strict set of CIDA standards that provide students with the foundation of knowledge necessary to inform and prepare them for their professional career.
“None of this would be possible without our program’s high-quality students, faculty, adjunct faculty, administrative support and Advisory Board members,” she adds.
