Forty-six graduate students accepted awards for their academic achievements at the 18th annual Graduate Student Awards Reception. Graduate award winners are selected by committees comprised of faculty and students. They are judged on their grades, contributions, and leadership skills.
“I can already notice a difference in the classroom and how I teach,” said Carrie Bishop, an elementary education graduate.
Many students recognized the Graduate School’s dedicated professors, convenience, and rigorous curriculum.
“Those students who emerge at the top deserve recognition. Graduate school is tough and many of these students work and have families,” said Dr. Stephanie Bellar, Dean of the Graduate School.
Dr. Roy Keith, who is currently Chairman of BLOC Global Services Group, LLC, addressed graduates and encouraged them to find their passion and make difference in their communities.
“The world has so many challenges, no matter what field you go into, we are all globally entwined,” said Keith.
Keith, who previously held the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carson Products Company, is a 1961 graduate of Morehouse College and holds master’s and doctorate degrees from Indiana University.
