Generous donors came forward with more than $140,000 in new funding pledges for WUTC-FM 88.1, allowing the radio station to surpass its goal during the spring membership drive.
“These are not the best of economic times for people. Yet they continue to find the money to make a contribution to keep quality public radio alive for the area,” said Robin Higgins, WUTC membership coordinator.
WUTC, operated by UTC, draws listeners from Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina who telephoned, mailed, or made internet pledges to cover programming costs of the radio station.
“We’re fortunate that so many loyal listeners always come through for us,” said Higgins.
WUTC is the area’s source for programming from National Public Radio. Besides nationally syndicated public radio favorites, it is the home of locally produced music and informational programs. The station can be heard over analog radio receivers, digital receivers, or via the internet.
