Research by UTC’s Clinical Infectious Disease Control (CIDC) research group has landed on the front page of the American Physical Therapy Association’s website.
The association is the professional group for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in the U.S.
Members of CIDC — June Hanks, David Levine and Henry Spratt — are researching ways to minimize potential infection-control issues unique to physical therapy outpatient clinics.
Hanks is an associate professor in Physical Therapy; Levine is a professor and Walter M. Cline Chair of Excellence in Physical Therapy; and Spratt is a professor in Biology, Geology and Environmental Science.
Their article on the APTA website discusses some of their research findings and includes suggestions on how to prevent these types of infections. The three also are writing an article to run in the association’s journal.
“We are excited that our research has been highlighted to the approximately 100,000 members of the APTA,” Levine says.
