Wherever you are, we hope you are safe and well, following the storms that roared through our region on Sunday night. As you look out for yourselves, your loved ones, and your friends, we wanted you to know that we are making changes to the academic schedule to permit some recovery from the disaster.
Given the extent of power and internet service outages due to recent storms in Chattanooga, classes are canceled Wednesday April 15 through Friday, April 17. No further assignments can be required to be due from this week. Due dates will be extended into next week for assignments that were due Monday, April 13 or Tuesday, April 14.
Beginning Monday, April 20, both asynchronous and synchronous instruction may resume and continue, if needed for your courses, through Friday, April 24. Your instructors will communicate any changes to class meetings or due dates to you.
Since classes will end on a Friday there will be no traditional “reading day” before final exams. Final exams are rescheduled for Monday, April 27 through Friday, May 1.
The updated schedule for exams is available: https://www.utc.edu/records/calendars-and-schedules/spring-2020.php
The deadlines to withdraw from a class or to opt into S/NC grading are extended to April 24.
Please alert your instructors of any storm-related difficulties you are experiencing that may affect your academic performance. These campus resources are available to assist you.

I am confused on the wording of the announcement regarding the cancellation of classes and assignments due to the storm. I understand the assignments due the 13th and 14th will be due next week. However, my confusion is regarding the assignments that are due the 15th, 16th, or 17th. The announcement states “No further assignments can be required to be due from this week”. Does this mean assignments that were due the 15th, 16th, and 17th are no longer required to be completed? Please clarify if any of the assignments originally due past the 14th are still required to be completed this semester.

So what does this mean for assignments that are/were due between today and Friday?
