Free flu vaccinations will be available on campus over the next two weeks.
The vaccinations are in the form of nasal spray and cannot be given to everyone for medical reasons. See the bulleted list below.
This week, vaccinations will be given in front of the University Health Services building from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Friday, Oct. 16.
Next week on Monday, Oct. 19, through Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Friday, Oct. 23, vaccinations will be given at the same place and in the same timeframe.
The vaccinations are available to students, faculty and staff, but you must show a valid UTC ID.
If the case of inclement weather, vaccinations will be given at the Vine Street entrance to Maclellan Gym.
The vaccine can be given to non-pregnant people ages 18 through 49. You cannot take it if you:
- Have had an allergic reaction after a previous dose of influenza vaccine or have any severe, life-threatening allergies
- Have a weakened immune system
- Have taken influenza antiviral medication in the previous 48 hours.
- Care for severely immunocompromised persons who require a protected environment
- Have asthma
You will be asked about all of these before you are given the vaccine.

Reminder: In compliance with a requirement of the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees, all employees must receive flu vaccine and document having done so by or before Dec. 14.
