Free flu vaccine in the form of nasal spray is available this week from 11 a.m.-noon and 3-4 p.m. at the University Health Services clinic inside Maclellan Gymnasium.
Vaccine is available to students, faculty and staff who are 18-49 years of age and can display a valid UTC ID.
For medical reasons, the nasal spray flu vaccine cannot be given to people in the following circumstances:
- Women who are pregnant
- Had an allergic reaction after a previous dose of influenza vaccine or have any severe, life-threatening allergies
- Have a weakened immune system
- Have taken influenza antiviral medication in the previous 48 hours
- Care for severely immunocompromised persons who require a protected environment
- Have asthma
You will be asked about all of these before you are given the vaccine.
