Two seniors have bee named as winners of the 2020 Public Service Award for their outreach efforts in the Chattanooga community.
Briana Brady is a native of Chattanooga majoring in political science and public service with a minor in French and economics. For the past several years, she has served as a tutor, group leader and reading evaluator at the Carver Youth and Family Development Center. She also is a volunteer in voter registration drives. Among her campus activities are serving as assistant features editor and opinion editor of The UTC Echo, president of the Political Science Club and a member of the UTC Political Science Department Advisory Board.
A native of Flint, Michigan, John Crain is majoring in human resources management with a minor in military science. He has been involved in the Chattanooga community as a member of Big Brother Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga, a Chattanooga Food Bank volunteer and serving as a youth mentor at Orchard Knob Middle School. On campus, he is an ROTC cadet and platoon leader, a resident assistant and a member of both Brother to Brother and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Winners of the Public Service Awards are selected by the UTC Alumni Board of Directors and the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs and is given annually awarded to one male and one female student who have been nominated by a faculty or staff member. The award carries a $500 scholarship.
