Michael Vasquez and Rose Freymuth-Frazier will be on campus and in the community September 13 – 16 as part of the UTC John and Diane Marek Visiting Artist Series
These exhibitions are supported by The Friends of the Gallery. Admissions to the Gallery and all events are free and open to the public.
Rose Freymuth-Frazier paints portraits that allegorically depict a sense of what it is to be a woman in today’s world with its emphasis upon physical beauty and its dichotomous, often perilous view of the nature of beauty as being both “treacherous” and “good.” The viewer is left to interpret as the vulnerable conceal their secrets and the strong guard their vulnerability.
Michael Vasquez paints narrative scenes that are largely autobiographical as images of cathartic memory and actuality, Vasquez addresses with empathy the difficult realities often faced by an individual within a contemporary urban existence, exposing deep relationships, angst and misgiving, survival and beauty.
