The 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service will take place in a virtual format from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18. Due to COVID-19 precautionary measures, the event will be held on Facebook Live.
The celebration of the life and legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. will include speakers, service highlights, performances, tributes and historical reflections.
The program will be coordinated by the City of Chattanooga Office of Multicultural Affairs in partnership with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Unity Group of Chattanooga.
University offices will be closed on Jan. 18 in observance of the national holiday. Observed each year on the third Monday in January, MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
The 2021 UTC spring semester begins on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
