Thirty-five students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga participated in its ninth White Coat ceremony on Jan. 15. The ceremony is a ritual in healthcare professions that marks a student’s transition from the study of pre-clinical to clinical health sciences and marks the point when students begin to work with individuals in the community in physical therapy management.
“The three-year DPT Program is a personal journey for development of clinical skills and professionalism; some people refer the art and science of the physical therapy profession,” Nancy Fell, head of the Department of Physical Therapy. “However, at this White Coat Ceremony, we recognize the Class of 2023 as prepared to uphold the professional values that are essential to patient care.”
