In its debut exhibit, the ICA@UTC (ICA stands for Institute of Contemporary Art) is hosting the works of 12 artists, all of whom have a connection to the city. The exhibit is titled “Home/”.
The gallery, located in the UTC Fine Arts Center, was formerly known as the George Ayers Cress Gallery of Art.
All of the exhibit’s artwork was made between 1995-2020 and ranges from drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and video.
In the exhibit, one of the artists, Marc Boyson, will travel along city streets on “kickabouts.” He will be leaving from the UTC Fine Arts Center at 10 a.m. each Tuesday and Thursday and will kick a cuboctahedron—a 14-sided sculpture—around the city. When he returns to the Cress Gallery, he will leave the sculpture to become part of the exhibition.
