Three students at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga have been selected for highly competitive scholarships to study abroad.
- Anna Yarbro, a senior majoring in communication, was awarded a $4,000 Gilman Scholarship to study in South Korea during the 2021-2022 academic year.
- Sean Badurina, a senior majoring in math, was awarded a $4,000 Gilman Scholarship to study in Japan during the 2021-2022academic year.
- Emma Sprayberry, a sophomore majoring in humanities with a focus on international studies, was awarded a $4,000 Gilman Scholarship to study in South Korea during the 2021 summer. She also was selected for the Freeman-Asia Scholarship as well as $2,000 in grants through her study abroad provider, the Council on International Educational Exchange.
The Gilman Scholarship is a nationally competitive scholarship for university students eligible for a Pell Grant.
The Freeman-Asia Scholarship is a nationally competitive scholarship for U.S. undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and who are planning to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
