The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs softball team was sent off in style Wednesday afternoon, as a raucous crowd greeted coaches and staff outside McKenzie Arena before the team departed for the Tuscaloosa Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
The Mocs earned an automatic bid to the tournament after a thrilling come-from-behind 9-7 victory over top-seeded UNC Greensboro in the Southern Conference Championship title game. In winning the 15th conference title in program history, the Mocs will make their 12th NCAA Tournament appearance.
UTC will face the University of Alabama on Friday, May 20, at 4 p.m. ET. Other schools in the Tuscaloosa Regional include Stanford and Murray State.
