Hill, and Wells Heath won the Junior and Senior Division
of the UTC Mathematics Poster Competition.
A trio of Notre Dame High School students earned first place honors at the UTC Mathematics Poster Competition, Junior and Senior Division. Kristen Hill, Danielle Del Valle and Wells Heath presented A Mathematical Model of the Spread of a Mutated Strain of Hepatis B. The group earned a $200 prize.
Mathematics in Modern Society was the theme of the event.
Sydney Dunavin and Abbey Roe of Notre Dame earned second place with Nothing but Net. Two teams from Boyd Buchanan and Notre Dame tied for third place. Robin Lee and Tamara Hue of Boyd Buchanan presented Somewhere over the Sine Wave: The Colorful World of Overtones and Notre Dame students Min Han and Martha Hunter presented Know your Limit. Each team earned $50.
In the Freshman and Sophomore Division, Time Dilation Calculator earned first place and $200 for Josh Leverette of Boyd Buchanan. Alyssa Brown of Baylor earned second place and $100 for Phi and the Human Body.
UTC and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee sponsored the competition.
