Governor Phil Bredesen has announced that Tyler S. Forrest, UTC SGA Vice President, and Dr. Verbie L. Prevost, head of the UTC English Department, have been appointed to the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees, the governing body of the UT system.
Forrest, of Athens, Tennessee, will serve a one-year term.
“Being appointed by Governor Bredesen to the UT Board of Trustees is a great honor,” Forrest said. “It is my privilege to be representing the nearly 48,000 students of the University of Tennessee.”
Forrest has served as Chairman of the Projects Committee and Senator for the College of Business in SGA and as an inaugural member of the University of Tennessee Student Council. He is Vice-Chairman of the Student Conduct Board, President of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma, a Chancellor’s Ambassador, and a member of several other University committees. Forrest has an interest in business and politics, and hopes to attend law school upon graduation. He plans to graduate in May 2010.
Prevost was also appointed for a one-year term. She specializes in American literature, literature of the American South, and women authors. She pursues research interests in these areas, and particularly on the work of women novelists of the American South. Prevost is active in directing several ongoing programs, including the Arts and Education Council’s Young Southern Writers Contest.
The term of trustee James L. “Bucky” Wolford of Chattanooga has expired, and he has been replaced by John Foy, chief financial officer at CBL & Associates Properties Inc. Foy will serve a six-year term.
