Three freshmen — Jordan Foutch, Grayson Golden and Zachary Perry were among the students awarded Grote Chemistry Scholarships for academic year 2008-09. To be eligible for a Grote Chemistry Scholarship, a student must complete a course in high school chemistry with an A or B, attain a high school grade point average of 3.5 or above, have a composite score of 26 or above on the enhanced ACT exam or SAT equivalent, and declare chemistry as their major at UTC. This is UTC’s 31st year of awarding Grote Scholarships.
Foutch graduated from The Webb School in Liberty, Tennessee, and is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Pre-med; Golden is an Ooltewah High School graduate whose hometown is now Dyersburg, Tennessee and is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Biochemistry Concentration, Pre-med and Zachary Perry, a Ringgold High School graduate from Ringgold, Georgia, is pursuing the BS Chemistry.
These outstanding students join the Grote Scholars who have retained their scholarships by maintaining a 3.25 GPA both overall and in chemistry:
Sophomore Scholars
Adam Higgs, a graduate of Columbia Central High School whose hometown is in Columbia, Tennessee. Higgs is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Biochemistry Concentration, Pre-med.
Vijay Patel, a graduate of Ooltewah High School whose hometown is Chattanooga. Patel is pursuing the BA Chemistry: Pre-med.
Hitesh Vashi, a graduate of East Ridge High School, whose hometown is Chattanooga. Vashi is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Pre-med.
Junior Scholars
Marko Bajic, a graduate of Ooltewah High School, whose hometown is Chattanooga is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Biochemistry Concentration, Pre-med.
Jin Cheng , who is doing a national study abroad this semester, is a graduate of Ooltewah High School. Cheng’s hometown is Chattanooga. Cheng is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Biochemistry Concentration.
Sean Dunn, a graduate of McCallie School, whose hometown is Chattanooga, is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Pre-med.
Senior Scholars
Cassie Brooks, a graduate of West Greene High School, whose hometown is Greeneville, Tennessee, is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Pre-med.
Rishi Naik, a graduate of East Ridge High School, whose hometown is Chattanooga, is pursuing the BS Chemistry: Pre-med.
