Look for alumnus Dustin Cawood’s name in the credits of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association choice for Best Picture of the Year, WALL-E.
Cawood, a former communication major at UTC, works at Skywalker sound in pre-production or post-production of movies in sound design and sound editing.
In the movie WALL·E, the story of a charming, forgotten robot who finds a new mission, Cawood took the role of Sound Effects Editor. It was offered by Multiple Academy Award winner Ben Burtt. Considered a pioneer in the business, Burtt is the first person to be credited with the term “Sound Designer” as a result of his groundbreaking work in the original Star Wars movie. Burtt was the Sound Designer on WALL·E, and as Sound Editor, Cawood took direction from Burtt.
