The UTC Department of Art 2009 Juried Student Exhibition will be available for viewing in the Cress Gallery of Art through January 25.
This year’s juror is Amy Pleasant, an artist living and working in Birmingham, AL, whose work is represented by Jeff Bailey Gallery in New York City. Pleasant selected 47 works from a total of 115 submitted by students enrolled in the UTC Department of Art professional curriculum.
This exhibition features work in a full range of media: ceramic, drawing, design, painting, photography, and sculpture created by students from the first through the fourth year of the Department’s programs.
“Past years student exhibits have been greatly received by campus and community visitors alike who remark about the high level of accomplishment of these students, their demonstrated skill and formal knowledge, and strength of conceptual content of the work,” said Ruth Grover, UTC Director and Curator of Galleries, Exhibitions, and Collections.
Cress Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Cress is open from 6:30 p.m. through intermission for all UTC Patten Series Performances and to curtain for most weekday UTC Music and Theatre Department Events.
