The Connor Society will present “A Conversation with Ruth Holmberg” as its spring event on March 17. The dinner occasion will take place in the Chattanooga Room of the UTC University Center, beginning at 6 p.m.
One of Chattanooga’s most prominent leaders and the former publisher of The Chattanooga Times, Holmberg will discuss her life and times with Dr. Clif Cleaveland, retired internist and a founding member of the Connor Society.
The Connor Society is a non-profit organization affiliated with the UC Foundation. Its purpose is to celebrate the life of George C. Connor through annual programs in the areas of interest to which the late Guerry Professor of English at UTC devoted his life.
“Mr. Connor was an ardent admirer of The Chattanooga Times,” Cleaveland said. “In fact, he had the opportunity to write editorials for the newspaper but decided instead that teaching was his calling.”
The public is welcome to attend this event. Cost is $25 a person to cover the dinner. Mail a check to the Connor Society at 732 Cherry Street. This check will serve as a reservation. For more information contact Verbie Prevost at UTC at verbie-prevost@utc.edu or (423)425-4627.
Free parking is available in the parking garage on East 5th Street near the University Center.
