Weeks of Welcome welcomes UTC students to the new academic year
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga welcomes students back to campus with games, swag and plenty of free food. Running Aug. 23 through Sept. 5, this year’s Weeks of Welcome expands UTC’s annual Welcome Week tradition with two weeks of department-hosted events across campus.

The people of UTC: Get to know ‘Miss’ Wanda Goins
“Miss” Wanda Goins moved to Chattanooga in 1974—four years after graduating from Dalton (Georgia) High School. At the time, she did not know just how much she would become ingrained in the community. On Tuesday, Aug. 18, Goins was inducted into the Bessie Smith Cultural Center Hall of Fame in recognition of her contributions to the Chattanooga community.
UTC students move in during Operation Move In 2026
Operation Move In, held Aug. 19-20, is an annual University of Tennessee at Chattanooga event that helps students move to campus. The campuswide effort brings together students, faculty, staff and administrators to ease the transition and introduce new students to classmates and the people of UTC.
