UTC has become the first academic institution to be connected to EPB Quantum Network℠ powered by Qubitekk. In late 2022, EPB and Qubitekk jointly launched the nation’s first industry-led, commercially available quantum network for running equipment and applications in an established fiber optic environment. UTC is connected to the network via a node within a quantum technology laboratory on campus.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing has been selected the best in the country by student and alumni voters in the inaugural Top Nursing School in the United States – Student Choice Awards contest launched by Nurse.org—an influential national organization.
Chancellor elected to CUMU board of directors
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Chancellor Steven R. Angle has been elected to the board of directors of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities, a consortium of presidents and chancellors of CUMU member institutions.
Sartipi honored for advanced energy leadership
Dr. Mina Sartipi was the recipient of the 2023 “Thomas B. Ballard Advanced Energy Leadership Award” presented by the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council.
Power C Tour comes home to UTC campus
The Power C Tour Chattanooga event followed October visits to Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville. The four tour stops attracted 1,033 total students, parents and guests. Of the 446 students who attended, more than 30% (138) were admitted to UTC in a “Moc Minute,” an initiative allowing qualified high school seniors to apply for free to the University at the event.
Dr. Trey Straussberger named director of UTC Office of National Scholarships
Dr. John “Trey” Straussberger has been selected as director of the Office of National Scholarships at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Paleo skills workshop takes participants back in time
About 70 people stepped tens of thousands of years into the past, learning to hunt with darts chunked by spears, make tools from stone and join a badminton-like game played by an ancient Peruvian civilization. Taking place Nov. 4 on Chamberlain Field, the fifth annual Paleo Skills Workshop was organized by Assistant Professor Brooke Persons, director of the Jeffrey L. Brown Institute of Archaeology at UTC.
