As UTC’s student body grows, so do the number of graduates. That’s why beginning this semester, the University will hold two commencement ceremonies, dividing graduates based upon their colleges. Both ceremonies will be held Saturday, December 14, in the UTC McKenzie Arena.
Business students experience international business culture
UTC College of Business students are getting a rare opportunity to see the world. Two classes will be offered in the spring semester and one in the summer that will center around ten day trips abroad.
Mocs rock Mock Trial
Students involved in Mock Trial at UTC get to try their hand at a real court case without the threat of legal repercussions. Mock Trial is a trial simulation that provides great skills for a wide variety of students, not just Political Science majors and future lawyers. Teams of six to ten students play the parts of lawyers and witnesses before a real judge.
Visiting Scholar brings fresh perspective to UTC English Department
English students at UTC have the chance to take classes from Allen Wier, an accomplished author, in this inaugural year of the UTC Department of English’s Visiting Scholar Program.

When Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke was invited by the UTC chapter of Sigma Xi to discuss technology and the future of Chattanooga, he was inspired by the scientific research society’s motto.
Elect Her cultivates female UTC student government candidates
This year marks the second time the Elect Her – Campus Women Win program will provide female UTC students the tools they need to be competitive in student government elections. Elect Her trains college women to run effective campaigns for student government and future office. It is the only nationwide program of its kind. This year’s theme is “ROAR! You will hear her!”
Alumna chosen for graduate fellowship
UTC Alumna Jillian Pennyman ’13 has been chosen for the Betty Jane Narver Policy Fellowship for 2013 – 2014. Pennyman received both a B.S. and M.Ed. in Secondary Education from UTC. She is pursuing the Master’s in Education Policy.
UTC student loan default lowers as national average rises
All over the country, the average number of students defaulting on loans is rising, but UTC has worked hard to lower our student loan default.
Exhibit featuring Holocaust heroes comes to UTC
UTC is hosting a unique exhibit featuring largely unrecognized heroes of the Holocaust on Monday and Tuesday, November 12 – 13, 8 – 5 p.m. in the Chattanooga Rooms of the UTC University Center. “Visas for Life” tells the stories of diplomats from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds who issued visas that allowed Jews to escape Nazi persecution. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
Fall Visit Day welcomes prospective students
Nearly fifteen hundred students and parents are expected to explore the campus on Fall Visit Day 2013 to be held Saturday, November 9 beginning at 10 a.m. This annual program offers prospective students and their family members an opportunity to discover all The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has to offer.
