Lola Oke, a political science major and Brock Scholar in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Honors College, is the first UTC student to be awarded a Charles B. Rangel Graduate Fellowship.
The Aviary takes flight: New student space introduced to South Campus
On Monday, Jan. 9, a grand opening ceremony was held to introduce The Aviary at Stacy Town Center—a community space designed to serve the social and academic needs of students residing in Decosimo, Guerry, Stophel, Walker and UC Foundation Apartments.

On Jan. 9, The Aviary at Stacy Town Center will be introduced. Located at the corner of East Eighth and University streets in front of the Decosimo Apartments, The Aviary is a student space conceptualized and designed by students in the UTC Interior Architecture and Design program.

During University of Tennessee at Chattanooga undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 17, at McKenzie Arena, Chancellor Steven R. Angle introduced Dr. Michelle Deardorff as the first recipient of the newly established Chancellor’s Medal of Excellence.
Tears of joy: A 25 year flight to a bachelor’s degree
Larry Guess, an Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter flight paramedic, is a member of the inaugural class of the UTC’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Leadership online degree program to complete the curriculum and receive a degree—15 months after the program started and 25 years after his college journey began.
