University of Tennessee System President Randy Boyd announced today that Steve Angle, who has served as chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for the past 11 years, will transition from his leadership role to join the faculty beginning January 1, 2025. Angle is the second-longest tenured Chancellor since the university joined the UT System in 1969.
Blue and Gold Preview: Future Mocs get a glimpse of UTC
Hundreds of prospective students and their families explored UTC during Blue and Gold Preview Day. In addition to campus tours, information sessions and an application workshop, UTC faculty, advisors and current students set up booths in the Aquatic and Recreation Center. William Inge’s “Bus Stop,” a quintessentially American story about bus passengers stranded by a blizzard in a diner, is coming to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Fine Arts Center’s Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre stage. The third annual Power C Tour—a statewide outreach effort to prospective students on academic programs, admissions, housing, financial aid and campus life at UTC—visited the Knoxville Convention Center on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The Power C Tour gives local high school students, transfers, graduate students and their families a feel for UTC. Representatives from the academic colleges, student services and campus leaders—plus current students and mascot Scrappy—were on hand to answer questions and make connections in a friendly, relaxed environment.
UTC raises nearly $2.9 million from 2,201 donors on Mocs Give Day
UTC raised $2,899,459.06 from 2,201 donors during its fifth annual Mocs Give Day on Oct. 1. The day’s original fundraising goal of $2,000,000 from 2,000 donors was exceeded by nearly 45% in dollars raised.
ChattState to UTC: A transfer student’s path to success
Joshua Clay didn’t choose a traditional route to college, but for him, that was part of the plan. Clay, a junior accounting major at UTC, started his academic journey at Chattanooga State Community College, where he received two free years of education and graduated with an associate degree in accounting.
UTC’s Megan McKnight honored by White House for leadership in opioid overdose prevention
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, UTC Center for Wellbeing Director Megan McKnight was invited to a Washington, D.C., summit hosted by the White House Domestic Policy Council (DPC) and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). The White House Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose event honored McKnight and nearly 250 other stakeholders for expanding access to lifesaving opioid overdose reversal medication and reducing preventable drug overdose deaths.
