Patten Series returns with innovative performances
The 2012-2013 Patten Performance Series continues to bring the world’s most innovative artists to Chattanooga. This season features performances from popular music artists, comedy tropes, and dance companies. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the UTC Fine Arts Center at the corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets.
Challenger Center bestows awards
Just before she handed the George H.W. Bush Award to Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, Dr. June Scobee Rodgers told the crowd gathered for the Challenger Center for Space Science Education (Challenger Center) conference at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, “This is an eagle and we are the wind beneath her wings.”
Three Shades of Green
It’s “Three Shades of Green” and eighteen feet high, a new and colorful beacon floating above waves of campus construction. Jim Collins, former art professor at UTC, has created a sculpture fashioned with three powder-coated aluminum figures sitting 15 feet high, perched atop recycled fiberglass turbine blades.
2012-13 George T. Hunter Lecture Series announced
The 2012-13 George T. Hunter Lecture Series begins its fifth year with a presentation by Diane Ravitch, Education historian and Former Assistant Secretary of Education, on Tuesday, September 18, 7 p.m. Ravitch will speak in the UTC Fine Arts Center, Roland Hayes Concert Hall.
