The Postmortal by Drew Magary has been chosen by the First Year Reading Experience (FYRE) committee as the FYRE book for 2014-2015. FYRE introduces students to the academic and intellectual culture of university life. It nurtures the belief that reading is an integral part of the university experience.
UTC supports ‘Clean and Green’
A group of energetic UTC students rolled up their sleeves and helped beautify the city of Chattanooga recently. UTC Student Government Association (SGA) representatives and a group of Health and Human Performance majors worked as part of the city’s annual Clean and Green program.
University publishes an online edition of student newspaper in Spanish
The University’s student newspaper may be more than 100 years old, but that doesn’t stop editors from innovating and trying new things. In an effort to meet the need of the Chattanooga area’s growing Spanish-speaking population and provide learning opportunities for students, The University Echo editors now publish an online edition of the newspaper in Spanish.
Students present road study to Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce
A group of UTC civil engineering students took their research out of a lab and into the real world. The group addressed traffic headaches at the intersection of Gunbarrel and East Brained Road, one of the busiest in the city.
Design and Research Project Showcase on April 22
The UTC College of Engineering and Computer Science Second Annual Design and Research Project Showcase will feature assistive technology and senior design projects including the MiniBaja vehicle and the Steel Bridge. The showcase will be held Tuesday, April 22, 4-6 p.m. on the 4th floor of the UTC Engineering, Math, and Computer Science building, corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets. The public is welcome.
Blue and Gold Memorial scheduled for April 14
The Blue and Gold Memorial Service is a tradition on campus which honors and remembers those who have passed away this year. This year’s service is scheduled for April 14 at 6 p.m. in Patten Chapel.
Senior art students exhibit work
Each spring the Cress Gallery hosts the Senior Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions, the capstone event of the creative research of students enrolled in the professional curriculum of the Department of Art at UTC. The 2014 Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions “Show One” will run until Friday, April 11, at the Cress Gallery of Art.
Students participate in research at UTC
As Jessica Murray assisted Dr. Gretchen Potts with ongoing research on electronic or e-cigarettes, the undergraduate student said she learned a lot about problem solving and troubleshooting. She recently presented her Departmental Honors Thesis in chemistry.
The Company Lab and UTC announce new GIGTANK fellowship
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and The Company Lab (CO.LAB) have partnered to launch a new UTC/GIGTANK Fellowship, which will engage qualified student entrepreneurs and UTC faculty as participants in GIGTANK 2014.
