UTC students teamed up with the Chattanooga community for three hours of non-stop dancing at the second annual Zumbathon. The fun event raised more than a $1,000 for the local chapter of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” initiative.
Author to discuss living for a year without mirrors, part of “I Am Enough” campaign at UTC
If you’ve had problems with body image, you’re not alone. Kjerstin Gruys experienced the same feelings, which led her to live without mirrors for a year and to write a memoir about the experience.

Civil rights leaders in Chattanooga will be prominently featured in the documentary 9 United for Equality: Reflections on the Struggle of Civil Rights in Chattanooga, to be shown Monday, February 24, 5:15 p.m., in the UTC University Center Auditorium. The documentary video will run 45 minutes; a reception will follow.

For the sixth consecutive year, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will present a benefit production of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues on Thursday, February 13 at 7 p.m., Friday, February 14, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, February 15, at 2 p.m. at the University Center Auditorium.

University hosts first community service fair
Representatives from more than 30 community organizations attended UTC’s first community service fair, introducing students to volunteering opportunities in the Chattanooga area.

Dr. Sean Richards, professor of Biological and Environmental Sciences, will present “Human Pharmaceuticals in our Lakes and Rivers” on January 29, at 3 p.m. in the Raccoon Mountain Rooms of the UTC University Center. This presentation, sponsored by the UTC Chapter of Sigma Xi, is free and open to the public.
