VW Drive Your Career Day shows UTC students ‘what a career at Volkswagen means’
On Thursday, Feb. 22, UTC hosted its first VW Drive Your Career Day, an event for students who registered to explore internship and career opportunities while networking with VW personnel. VW staff members talked with students about positions in numerous disciplines, including innovation, finance, engineering, computer science, business and human resources. In addition, an ID.4 and the new VW bus were parked next to the silver Power C adjacent to the University Center.
UTC Theatre Co. presents Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5 the Musical”
The UTC Theatre Co. will present “9 to 5 the Musical” from Feb. 27 through March 2 in the UTC Fine Arts Center’s Dorothy Hackett Ward Theatre. Nightly shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Saturday, March 2.
Calling all Mocs: Register to present or perform at the 2024 UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference
The largest academic conference held on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus is only a couple of months away. The 2024 UTC Spring Research and Arts Conference will be held on Wednesday, April 10, in the University Center. Sponsored by the Office for Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavor (URaCE), the event allows UTC students, faculty and staff to share their research or showcase their creative work with their peers.
An ode to the arts: UTC Black History Month calendar features theatre, dance, art … and even yoga
UTC Black History Month 2024 kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 1, and this year’s theme is “African Americans and the Arts.” Among the event highlights is a three-night reenactment, “Baldwin vs. Buckley” as performed by the New York-based american vicarious theatre group.
Blue Ribbon luncheon recognizes UTC employees who have gone above and beyond
On Monday, Jan. 29, Chancellor’s Blue Ribbon Award recipients for the second half of 2023—Gassim Abazid (UTC Police Department), Stephanie Orr (Undergraduate Admissions), Shari Kappel (Administrative Specialist for Management, Gary W. Rollins College of Business), Brandalyn Shropshire (Undergraduate Admissions), Lili Reynolds (Registered Nurse, University Health Services) and Emma Sampson (MPH Program Manager, Health and Human Performance)—were recognized with a luncheon in the University Center.
UTC Symphony Orchestra to perform concerto concert on Feb. 4
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra will present a concerto concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4, in the UTC Fine Arts Center’s Roland Hayes Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

UTC’s Institute of Contemporary Art to host artist Becky Suss and Pulitzer Prize finalist Ann Patchett
An award-winning novel is the inspiration for an art exhibition that the Institute of Contemporary Art, housed in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Fine Arts Center, is bringing to campus. A solo exhibition of new paintings by Becky Suss, inspired by Pulitzer Prize-finalist Ann Patchett’s 2019 novel “The Dutch House,” will be held from Jan. 16 to March 16 at ICA Chattanooga, accessed through the lobby of the Fine Arts Center.
