Catching up with SGA President Robert Fisher
Most UTC students stay busy in fall semester, but Student Government Association President Robert Fisher became known as a master of time management to conquer his schedule. Fisher, a Brock Scholar, works with his team leaders in SGA to affect positive change. He also began his tenure on the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), serving as the student representative of the University of Tennessee System; he visited Washington D.C. as a Presidential Fellow with the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC); and he was appointed to a leadership position on the UT Advocacy Council Oversight Committee by UT President Joe DiPietro.
Educations majors’ imaginations lift off with NASA demonstration

UTC hosts Chattanooga’s largest blood drive
For the sixth consecutive year, UTC hosted Bloodanooga, Chattanooga’s largest blood drive. Organized by Blood Assurance, the area’s only blood bank, which serves and provides for nearly 50 medical facilities across Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, and North Carolina, this semester’s Bloodanooga was held in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
UTC health profession students raise falls awareness in the community
According to the Tennessee Department of Health, one of three adults age 65 or older falls each year. For older adults, a fall can cause severe injuries, such as fractures or concussions. Falling and the fear of falling can hamper individuals’ ability to lead healthy, independent lives. UTC students from various fields did their part to help prevent falls at Fall Prevention Awareness Day.
PAWS provides elementary students with the knowledge of college
In the last six years more than more than 500 student mentors from UTC have volunteered to help fourth and fifth graders at Brown Academy get excited about going to college. Postsecondary Awareness With Success (PAWS) is making a difference.

Camp GEAR UP, a path to academic success
A strong mind and body can lead to success in education. It’s a new mantra for seventh and eighth graders enrolled in the UTC Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP). They’ve spent the last two weeks in Tunnel Hill, Georgia, where GEAR UP and the Tennessee National Guard partnered to provide a two-week boarding camp.
