A real find: UTC scientist names beetle in honor of Darwin
Charles Darwin is not only known as the father of evolution, he also has a reputation as an excellent field biologist. On his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle from 1831-1836, he stopped along the coast of Argentina at Bahía Blanca, approximately 400 miles south of Buenos Aires. Among the many specimens he collected was a beetle that’s been lost for a long time, but was recently found by UTC Associate Professor Dr. Stylianos Chatzimanolis, who works in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences
Dean of UTC College of Business receives honorary doctorate in Kenya
Nearly thirty years to the day after he received his first degree from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, UTC College of Business Dean Robert Dooley received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya.

Students take Holocaust Study Tour, two blogging about experiences

The Second Friend: Owen Barfield’s Influence on C.S. Lewis, will be presented by Ken Myers on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the UTC University Center Auditorium. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
UTC represented at UT Day on the Hill
UTC Chancellor Steve Angle and UTC Student Government Association President Robert Fisher joined University of Tennessee President Joe DiPietro and representatives from every campus and institute at the University of Tennessee System’s annual “UT Day on the Hill” held in Nashville earlier this week.
Update: Asia Conference covers economics, tea ceremony
Considering Japan is the largest foreign investor in Tennessee, it’s only fitting Consul-General Motohiko Kato kicked off the Sixth Annual Introduction to Asia Conference at UTC on Tuesday, February 25. Kato works to assist Japanese companies in the Volunteer state.
