UTC student Eric Snider, an undergraduate chemical engineering major, won a second place research award at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minneapolis.
UTC professor Pedro Campa to speak at fall 2011 commencement
Dr. Pedro Campa, UTC Professor of Romance Languages, will deliver the fall commencement address to more than 600 UTC graduates on Saturday, December 17 at 10 a.m. in the UTC McKenzie Arena. The event will be streamed live online, available at this link on the day of the ceremony.
University Honors students support Bridge Refugee Services
UTC University Honors (UHON) students spread holiday cheer to Bridge Refugee Services by presenting the non-profit organization with a check for $4,500, proceeds from a UHON Date Auction event and winnings from a social media competition.

The Pulitzer winning photographer who captured campus images in a new history book has great memories of his days as a student at the University in the 1960s. Robin Hood described himself as fun loving and a member of a fraternity, while at the same time seriously pursuing his art degree.
University sponsors campus sustainability garden
The UTC Environmental Task Force recently approved funding for a Sustainability Garden Program. Beginning in spring 2012, twelve multidisciplinary students will be selected to sustain two 4-foot by 24-foot raised bed vegetable gardens as well as attend workshops offered by local organic farmers and local food leaders.
Students partner with local school children to create streetscape art project
A railroad crossing on Martin Luther King Boulevard will get a facelift thanks to students from Brown Academy and UTC. Student mentors from the UTC P.A.W.S. (Postsecondary Awareness With Success) program recently assisted fourth and fifth grade students from Brown Academy in creating banners to hang on the railroad crossing.
