The fall 2024 semester is swiftly approaching as University of Tennessee at Chattanooga staff and faculty diligently prepare for the arrival of the campus’ new Mocs. While the official “Welcome Week” festivities don’t begin until Aug. 18, UTC has prepared a plethora of activities for new students as they start their college careers.
UTC rocks: First-year geology class shows Chattanooga’s great outdoors
In Dr. Amy Brock-Hon’s first-year geology classes, the city of Chattanooga will serve as the laboratory. The class, named “MOCS Explore Chattanooga,” combines two geology classes and a lab and is a part of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s “A Moc’s First Year” program—which was designed to help first-year students build community.

“A Moc’s First Year” will connect current and new initiatives toward a centralized learning community model that increases student and faculty interaction, the sense of community on campus, new students’ connectedness to Chattanooga, and overall UTC student success.
Staff impression: New Mocs hires welcomed to campus
A new UTC monthly welcoming event brings together Mocs staff hired during the previous month. For instance, employees who joined UTC in September were invited to an Oct. 24 meet-and-greet—which also included several Executive Leadership Team members and administrative support staff.
