The UTC Karate Club, one of Campus Recreation’s club sports, is relatively new on campus. The organization began during the 2023-2024 academic year and practices just once per week. But when the club went up against seasoned competitors from traditional martial arts academies on March 8—including scholarship athletes from Bryan College’s Martial Arts Academy—the results told a different story.
Opening inner doors: Bliss Murphy came out of her shell during a busy freshman year
Bliss Murphy’s freshman year, along with the usual load of classes, was filled to the brim. During the academic year, she was a member or involved with 18 different on-campus groups or organizations, including the Center for Women and Gender Equity, the Wildlife and Zoology Club, the Ecological Decisions for a Global Environment (EDGE), Healing Through Harmony music therapy group and Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavor (URaCE).

For nearly 20 years, Dr. Bradley Reynolds has been a member of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Biology, Geology and Environmental Science faculty. It is virtually impossible to talk to him without asking about the nickname he bestowed upon himself: The “King of Environmental Science.”
Donated wetlands are a chance for students to get their hands dirty — and soaked
A 17-acre wetlands donated to UTC about two years ago is now an outdoor laboratory for students. But first on the agenda is trash pickup and, so far, about two tons have been hauled out, including TVs, tires, car parts and lots of plastic and glass bottles.
