Two plaques honoring Charles “Rocky” Renneisen, former Dean of Students, and Richard MacDougall, former Dean of Men, have been placed in the UC Commons to honor their service.
Dr. Renneisen, who was hired in 1970, grew the department into a division of Student Affairs. Mr. MacDougall, also hired in 1970, was responsible for Greek men, residence halls, and student conduct. His roles and titles evolved to become Associate Dean of Students, and later Associate Vice Chancellor under Renneisen.
When Renneisen’s retired, MacDougall was appointed Vice Chancellor for Student Development. Both men were advocates for students and dedicated many years of service to UTC. Their mentoring encouraged several UTC alumni to enter the field of college administration including those earning doctorates. When they retired, a tree was designated in their honor along with annual SGA scholarship awards.
